Following up on last summer’s successful run of Mozart concerts, the RPO returns to the air-conditioned comfort of Hochstein for the first of three Wednesday night Midsummer Classics series.

Norwegian guest conductor Arild Remmereit returns to the RPO for a program featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, "Pastoral." You’ll also hear music from Grieg’s beautiful Peer Gynt Suite and violinist Joan Kwuon performing Mozart’s brilliant Violin Concerto No. 5. New this year: come early to each of the Hochstein concerts, and you can enjoy wine tastings at 6:00 pm and pre-concert chamber music at 6:30 pm. This week features the RPO Brass Quintet playing music from the Renaissance to Gershwin. Among the featured wineries are Mayers Lake Ontario Winery, Deer Run Winery, and Eagle Crest Vineyards.

Plus, the Rochester Plaza Hotel—just a few blocks from Hochstein—is offering RPO patrons free on-site parking and a dining discount at the State Street Bar and Grill. Use this link for more information about all the pre-concert activities.

Jeff Tyzik Leads RPO Summer Celebration at SUNY Geneseo

Bring your lawn chairs, family, and friends for the RPO’s annual outdoor concert under the stars, part of the Geneseo Rotary Summer Festival. Jeff Tyzik leads the RPO in selections from West Side Story and The Music Man, Copland's Hoedown, St. Louis Blues, and patriotic favorites such as Armed Forces Salute, and Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever and Liberty Bell March, followed by fireworks.

Christopher Seaman Leads His Final Summer Concert as Music Director

For his final summer concert as Music Director, Christopher Seaman conducts the RPO in music of Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven.

The concert opens with the majestic overture to Mozart’s final operatic work, La Clemenza di Tito. This sets the stage for the virtuosity of the RPO’s Concertmaster Juliana Athayde (The Caroline W. Gannett & Clayla Ward Chair) in Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 1, and then joined by her husband, Principal Oboe Erik Behr (The Dr. Jacques M. Lipson Chair), in Bach’s Oboe and Violin Concerto.
