RPO's Gershwin Leaps to Number 3 on Billboard

 
Rochester, NY – In its tenth week on the Top 10 Classical Billboard Chart, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s Gershwin CD has leaped to an all-time high of number three today.  The recording rose from a previous high last week of number seven, and has been in a Top 10 position for six weeks.

Until now, the RPO’s highest Billboard position historically was at number seven, reached in 1988 by the Pro Arte release, Gotta Dance conducted by Eric Kunzel; the Gershwin release tied that position last week.

The harmonia mundi usa release under RPO Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik and the Van Cliburn award-winning pianist Jon Nakamatsu features the 1925 Piano Concerto in F, the well-known Rhapsody in Blue and the rarely-heard Cuban Overture and is available in a special SACD (Super Audio CD) hi-resolution format.  CDs are available for $20 (tax included) at the RPO box office, online at www.rpo.org, and wherever CDs are sold.  All purchases, including through the RPO, count toward the Billboard charting.
