June 12, 2008
Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy Goldsmith Zawacki of Pittsford, N.Y. as its new Director of Marketing, effective Tuesday, July 8.
In communicating the news of Ms. Zawacki’s appointment to the RPO’s Board, Staff and Musicians, President & CEO Charles Owens said, “I know the RPO’s marketing program will be transformed under Nancy’s energetic and imaginative leadership at an especially critical time, as we prepare our audiences to experience the RPO in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre in the 2009-2010 season.” As Director of Marketing, Ms. Zawacki will oversee all aspects of the RPO’s Marketing Department, including Box Office and Patron Services operations. Among her other responsibilities, this will include strategizing and managing all components of the annual subscription and single-ticket campaigns; enhancing and promoting the RPO brand; overseeing the development and production of all marketing materials; developing the expense budget and ticket sales projections; and directly supervising a staff of three.
Ms. Zawacki has been the Director of Marketing Communications at United Way of Greater Rochester since 2004. In that position, she was responsible for all aspects of marketing strategy and communications to promote United Way’s work in seven counties across the Greater Rochester region. Prior to the United Way, Ms. Zawacki worked in the communications department at the Monroe Medical Society. In 2004, she was the lead producer and writer for the WXXI-TV documentary “Reclaiming the Crescent: Stories from Tyshaun’s Neighborhood” for which she and her team received a Telly Award. Other media experience includes three years as a news reporter for Fox 31 Television.
Ms. Zawacki received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from American University in Washington, D.C.
