Nominations Still Being Accepted for RPO Music Educators Awards

December 16 is Postmark Deadline for Nominations
Rochester, NY – For those whose lives have been touched by a local music teacher, there are a few days left to nominate him or her for the annual Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Musicians’ Awards for Outstanding Music Educators. The purpose of the Awards is to honor outstanding music educators in the public and private schools from the city of Rochester and the surrounding nine-county area and to enhance the understanding and communication between the RPO professional musicians and the Rochester-area music educators.
Nominations may be made in four categories:
• Classroom Music Specialist (General Music K-12)
• Choral Director (K-12)
• Instrumental Music: Band (K-12)
• Instrumental Music: Strings (K-12)
Printable forms and additional information are available at www.rpo.org/MusicEducators. The completed nomination form and accompanying letter should be postmarked no later than Tuesday, December 16, 2008, and sent to:

A committee of RPO musicians and area music educators will select Award winners from among nominations. The Awards will be presented on April 16, 2009 at an RPO Philharmonics Series concert at the Eastman Theatre designated as “Music Educators Night at the RPO.” This year’s Awards are sponsored by Jeff Reimer Piano Service.
