Sold-Out RPO Cirque de la Symphonie Concerts Result in Rarely Opened Pit Seats

January 06, 2009

34 New Seats Available Immediately for Two Nights

Rochester, NY – Selling-out in advance of both its Cirque de la Symphonie concerts this Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm has prompted the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra to do something it hasn’t done in recent memory.  In response to the clamor for tickets, the RPO will open up the “pit” (the area immediately in front of – and right below the stage – where the orchestra performs during events such as “The Nutcracker” and other dance and opera productions) for 34 very special up-close-and-personal seats each night at $100 per ticket.  Those interested in purchasing these tickets should call Kate Wahl, Manager of Patron Services and Sales, directly at 454-7311 x231.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this special seating opportunity to as many of our patrons as possible,” said RPO President & CEO Charlie Owens, “in order to experience the sights and sounds of this truly spectacular event. We were fortunate that the logistics of this particular show enabled us to expand our seating capabilities.”   The RPO is able to use the seating in the pit because the musicians will be placed further upstage than where they usually perform, allowing for the aerial, “flying,” balancing, and gymnastic acts in Cirque de la Symphonie to take place unencumbered.  Cirque de la Symphonie showcases many of the best cirque acts in the world perfectly choreographed to music by such composers as Rimsky-Korsokav, Saint-Saëns, Bizet, Dvoƙák, Tchaikovsky, and John Williams that lends itself to an entirely new interpretation of physical artistry.
