February Begins with a Vocal Homage to Love
January 21, 2010
Baritone Daniel Narducci Brings Warmth of Romantic American Standards
Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic opens the month of love with a romantic concert of music by some of the composers and lyricists known for their ability to translate the emotion of love to the musical theater genre, with romantic orchestral samples rounding out the concert. On Friday, February 5, and Saturday, February 6 at 8:00 pm, baritone Daniel Narducci brings his warm baritone voice to Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.
Interspersed with Narducci’s nostalgic vocal selections from some of the most popular tunes by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Jerome Kern, and Cole Porter will be music from the film Casablanca, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Puccini’s La Bohème, and more. Associate Concertmaster Wilfredo Degláns and Principal Trombonist Mark Kellogg (The Austin E. Hildebrandt Chair) will be featured in solo roles.
American baritone Daniel Narducci is a multi-faceted artist whose talents have been captured through live stage presentations, recordings, documentaries, and television. Since his professional debut with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra under Erich Kunzel, Mr. Narducci has appeared with many of the world’s finest symphony orchestras, including those of Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Toronto, Detroit, Baltimore, and the Boston Pops. He has appeared regularly at many popular summer music venues throughout North America, including Wolf Trap, Ravinia, Blossom, Saratoga, and Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival. Television appearances include his historic performance with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, filmed for nationwide broadcast in China. Additionally, Narducci appears in operas from Madama Butterfly to I Pagliacci, and from Romeo and Juliet to Carmen. As a recording artist, he created the role of Captain Hook on the world premiere recording of Leonard Bernstein’s Peter Pan.
Tickets for these performances are $22-$62, with $75 box seats available online 24/7 at www.rpo.org; by phone (454-2100); in-person from the RPO Box Office, 108 East Avenue, 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Saturday (non-concert Saturdays, 10:00 am-3:00 pm); and seven days a week at area Wegmans. A convenience fee may apply. The Pops Series is sponsored by Wegmans; this concert is sponsored by Cooper/Haims Advisors, LLC; and Tri-Delta Resources, with additional support from the Riedman Foundation.
