Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Blockbuster Summer 2011 Season Announced!

(ROCHESTER, NY) – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) announced its 2011 Summer Season line-up today.  Tickets for this exciting season, which offers programming for everyone, go on sale Monday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m.  The summer schedule includes two concerts at CMAC, the return of Midsummer Classics in the Performance Hall at Hochstein, and for the first time ever, summer concerts in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.  Program highlights include The Music of John Williams: Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more!; Red, White and Boom!; a July Fourth celebration; The Magical Music of Disney; and Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” in Concert.  See below for a chronological listing of the entire Summer Series, along with ticketing information.

Subscriptions are available for this blockbuster season.  The Summer Super Flex Subscription ($129 for four vouchers) can be used towards CMAC, Hochstein, and Kodak Hall performances.  There is also a CMAC two-pack subscription ($22 - $88) for patrons who would like to take advantage of the CMAC-only performances.  Both packages can be purchased by calling the Eastman Theatre Box Office at 454-2100; additionally, the CMAC two-pack can be purchased by calling Blue Cross Arena at 1-800-745-3000.

The RPO returns to downtown Rochester with a patriotic musical celebration complete with fireworks. The RPO concert starts at 9:00 p.m., with fireworks at approximately 10:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

 

The recommended fireworks viewing areas are the Main Street Bridge, the Broad Street Bridge, Chestnut Street, near the Washington Square Garage, and the streets surrounding those areas. Free parking is available at the Washington Square, Court Street, and Sister Cities garages.
