Featuring Actor
John de Lancie of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Breaking Bad
ROCHESTER, NY - In addition to its Sunday, May 6 orKIDStra Family series performance of Dr. Seuss’ The Sneetches, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will now also perform this work by Spanish composer Lorenzo Palomo on Saturday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. The added evening performance is geared towards a more mature audience; both feature actor John de Lancie, best known for his role as “Q” in Star Trek: The Next Generation and recent appearance on the widely acclaimed series Breaking Bad, as narrator. The RPO will perform Dr. Seuss’ The Sneetches in the Performance Hall at Hochstein with Michael Butterman, Principal Conductor for Education and Outreach, conducting.
In addition to his work as an actor, de Lancie has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, National Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and Philadelphia Orchestra. de Lancie was also the writer, director, and host of First Nights, an adult concert series at Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic that explored the lives and music of Stravinsky, Beethoven, Mahler, Schumann, and Prokofiev.
The Sneetches was commissioned by Rochester physician Dr. Sid Sobel.
Tickets for the added Saturday evening performance are $10 for children and $20 for adults; $50 tickets for the concert and special meet-and-greet with de Lancie following the performance are also available.
The orKIDStra Series is sponsored by Wendy’s. The Sneetches is also supported in part by Macy’s.
