RPO ADDS NEW SPECIAL CONCERT TO 2015/16 SEASON:

Faithfully – A Symphonic Tribute to the Music of Journey

Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) announces a new addition to its Special Concerts for the 2015/16 season: Faithfully – A Symphonic Tribute to the Music of Journey in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $22 – $99, and are now available to 2015/16 subscribers for presale through July 30 via rpo.org and (585) 454-2100. Single tickets will go on sale July 31 in person at the Eastman Theatre Box Office (433 East Main Street) and at all Wegmans That’s T.H.E. Ticket! locations, by phone at (585) 454-2100, or online at rpo.org.

 

Faithfully – A Symphonic Tribute to the Music of Journey celebrates the music of Journey, one of the most popular American rock bands of all time. With 25 gold and platinum albums along with 19 Top Forty singles, Journey is a world-wide phenomenon that has toured the globe for four decades. Now for the first time, audiences can hear hits like “Don’t stop Believing,” “Faithfully,” “Any Way you Want It,” “Open Arms,” “Wheel in the Sky” and many more, all with a full symphony orchestra.

 

The new concert joins four previously announced 2015/16 Special Concerts:

  • On Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., the RPO will present Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy ® for the first time. Led by Grammy Award–winning conductor Arnie Roth and featuring the music of Japanese video game composer Nobuo Uematsu, this global entertainment phenomenon includes music from all 14 games and an HD-video presentation of exclusive content from game developers SQUARE ENIX.
  • From the Top Live with Host Christopher O’Riley takes place Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 3 p.m.  Music Director Ward Stare conducts one of the most popular classical music programs on the radio and the preeminent showcase for young musicians—all featuring a full orchestra. An afternoon of amazing performances and captivating personal stories of young musicians from Rochester and around the country will be taped before a live audience and aired on NPR.
  • The third 2015/16 Special features pop pianist Jim Brickman, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 8p.m. Brickman takes the audience on a musical journey with his romantic melodies and engaging wit. Hear chart-topping songs including “Valentine” during this one-night-only event with the RPO.
  • And, for the first time, the RPO will present Home Alone on the big screen with live orchestral accompaniment on Saturday, December 12, 2015at 7 p.m. With John Williams’ delightful score and its star Macaulay Culkin as the boy who’s accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Christmas vacation, this concert is holiday fun for the entire family.

 

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has been committed to enriching and inspiring our community through the art of music since its founding in 1922. The RPO presents approximately 150 concerts and broadcasts a year, serving up to 170,000 people through ticketed events, education and community engagement activities, and concerts in schools and community centers throughout the region. Recently appointed 12th Music Director Ward Stare joins the ranks of former notable RPO music directors, including Eugene Goossens, José Iturbi, Erich Leinsdorf, David Zinman and Conductor Laureate Christopher Seaman. Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik has earned a national reputation for excellence in pops programming during his 20-year tenure with the RPO. With Michael Butterman as Principal Conductor for Education and Community Engagement (The Louise and Henry Epstein Family Chair)—the first position of its kind in the country—the RPO reaches more than 12,000 children through its specific programs for school-aged children.
