RPO @ CMAC: Movies, Marches & America

Tickets on sale this Friday for Saturday, July 9 concert with Ward Stare

Rochester, NY – Bring the whole family to celebrate music, movies, and all things American with your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) at Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC, 3355 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua, NY 14424) on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 8 p.m.  Led by RPO Music Director Ward Stare, RPO @ CMAC: Movies, Marches & America will highlight selections from blockbuster film scores, patriotic marches, and American-themed music, followed by a stunning post-concert fireworks display over the CMAC lawn.

“I’m very pleased to be returning to CMAC for the second year in a row with the RPO,” says Stare. “It’s a wonderful summertime venue, and the Finger Lakes audiences are always great. I especially enjoy seeing so many families enjoying music together.”

The program will also pay musical tribute to many notable anniversaries, such as John Williams’ Midway March in honor of the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and The Cowboys Overture in celebration of the 100th anniversary of America’s National Parks.

Audiences will hear the Olympic Fanfare & Theme in advance of the 2016 Summer Olympics, the theme from Rocky on that film’s 40th anniversary, and Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik’s Armed Forces Medley. They’ll also get a couple of 2016/17 season previews: Williams’ March from Raiders of the Lost Ark (the RPO will accompany the entire film in January) and Gershwin’s American in Paris (part of next season’s American Music Festival, sponsored in part by Constellation Brands).

Ticket prices range from $14-$44, and kids 18 and under are free under the shell (excluding table seating) and on the lawn (limit 2 kid tickets per 1 adult ticket purchased). Presale tickets are available to RPO subscribers and donors on Thursday, April 28 at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. They can be purchased at ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000, and at the Blue Cross Arena Box Office (One War Memorial Square or 585-758-5330).

RPO @ CMAC: Movies, Marches & America is sponsored by Constellation Brands, and the 2015/16 RPO season is presented by Dawn and Jacques Lipson. Please visit rpo.org for all RPO concerts, and view the 2016 CMAC line-up and show announcements at www.cmacevents.com.
