August 28, 2006

Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to announce that Amy Blum will join the RPO staff on September 1, 2006 as its new Manager of Media Relations. Ms. Blum has worked with the Orchestra as a public relations and media consultant for the last five months.

As President of Amy Blum Publicity which she founded in 1985, Amy has been a music and entertainment publicist for soloists, composers, ensembles, record labels, orchestras, web magazines, festivals, multi-cultural and multi-media performance pieces. From 2001–2005, she served as the national publicist for the Eastman School of Music. Her work has been recognized by Chamber Music magazine and the Rochester Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America with an Award of Excellence in 2003.

“We are delighted to welcome a media relations professional to the RPO staff,” said Amy Brondyke, the RPO’s Director of Marketing & PR. “Amy Blum has an incredible depth and breadth of experience working with both artists and members of the media at every level, and her creative energy and strategic thinking will raise the profile of the RPO locally, nationally and internationally.”

A native of New York City, Amy graduated Magna cum laude from the University of Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in music, having studied piano with Yvar Mikashoff and Stephen Manes. She subsequently earned her certification as a music therapist from Montclair State College, and created the first position of its kind for BOCES #1 in the Rochester area.

Celebrating its 83rd season in 2005-06, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s mission is to perform and present a broad range of quality music; attract, entertain and educate audiences with superior musical performances; maintain and build the Orchestra’s national reputation; and enhance the reputation of the Rochester community as a place in which to live, work, play, visit and learn.
