When not performing with the RPO, you can find me ... Spending time with my wife and son; teaching at Eastman; keeping up with the latest in sports and politics.
First music-related memory: Singing songs in the car on long family trips.
I decided to be a professional musician when ... I was in third grade. I had an incredibly inspiring first teacher who made playing and learning a great deal of fun. I wanted to be just like him.
Favorite travel destination: The destination doesn't matter as long as the company is good!
Influential teachers: John Marcellus, Norman Bolter, Ned Meredith, James DeSano and Lyndon Schmidt.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Chocolate (the more, the better)

What other orchestras have you performed with? National Repertory Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Syracuse Symphony
Favorite restaurant in town and why: Aladdins on the canal in Pittsford -- healthy menu items, great scenery and reasonably priced.
What types of music do you like to listen to? Mostly jazz vocalists like Diana Krall.
Do you have a pet? Yes -- two dachshunds, aged 14 and 15!
The RPO is essential to Rochester because ... it makes the quality of life better in our community. We can educate, entertain and touch people's souls.
My favorite part of working in the RPO is ... my outstanding inspiring colleagues.
If someone were visiting Rochester, what would you tell them to go see or do? The Frank Lloyd Wright house on East Blvd., Frontier Field, Geva Theatre, Wegmans in Pittsford.
Biography
Mark Kellogg has been a member of the RPO since 1989. He also holds the position of Associate Professor of Trombone, Euphonium and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music. Mr. Kellogg has performed with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Brass Band of Battle Creek, U.S. Army Chamber Orchestra, Music of the Baroque in Chicago, San Francisco’s Chamber Music West, Skaneateles Festival, Fortissimo! Festival, Chamber Music Rochester and Eastman Virtuosi. He was a founding member of the chamber brass groups Rhythm and Brass and Plus One. He has released a solo recording entitled Upstate Standards.
