What music school did you attend, and who were your most inspirational teachers? Eastman School of Music; Alan Bomwell, George Osborn, John Marcellus, Arnold Jacobs, James Desano

What kinds of music do you enjoy listening to? Quite a varied range - from classical to world music, country, classic rock – the list goes on.

And if you had to pick just one, what’s your favorite piece? In spite of being an incurable Wagnerite, I might have to choose Brahms' Third Symphony

What do you most enjoy about living in the Rochester area? Four beautiful seasons

The RPO is essential to the Rochester community because… It is a locus for the community's commitment to artistic creativity, the emanating effects of which increase Rochester's overall creative vitality.

What sports team(s) do you root for? GO SABRES...and the Green Bay Packers.

What is your most memorable musical experience? Performing Nielsen's Fourth Symphony with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra - it was my first performance of a major work with an orchestra. I've never forgotten the excitement and satisfaction of that performance, as well as the reinforcement that it was absolutely what I wanted to be doing.



Biography

Lisa Albrecht serves as Second Trombonist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where she received the Remington Scholarship and Performer’s Certificate. Ms. Albrecht has also held positions with the Minnesota Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and Honolulu Symphony. For several years she served as Assistant Principal Trombonist of the New York Philharmonic and toured with the orchestra internationally, including their groundbreaking 2008 concert in Pyongyang, North Korea. She has performed with several orchestras around the world, among them the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Czech National Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, St. Louis Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, St. Petersburg Orchestra, and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Ms. Albrecht has also toured with the Summit Brass, Burning River Brass, and Proteus 7.

A New York-based free lancer for 15 years, she performed in over 20 Broadway productions, for radio, television, and film. Taking a special interest in music of the Renaissance, she enjoys performing on historical brass instruments. A frequent recitalist and clinician, Ms. Albrecht has been a soloist with the Jupiter Symphony Players, the International Trombone Festival, Lieksa Brass Week (Finland), Eastern Trombone Workshop, and the New York Brass Conference. She has served on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music, The Juilliard School, and the University of Texas.
