ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
Music has a unique power to convey what words often cannot: a state of mind, a feeling, an emotion. This concert will examine different emotional states and the elements of music associated with them. We’ll discover what we already know instinctively: music’s emotional impact is clear and universal.
NY State Guidelines in relation to this concert:
- The conductor will interact with the audience throughout the concert asking students to make decisions based on what they hear
- Students will have the opportunity to use art materials and resources if teachers choose to submit works of art and poetry for projection during the concert
- Students will respond to the pieces of music during the concert as well as any pre/post work teachers choose to do

About the Intermediate Concert Series
Each year the RPO offers performances for 4th-6th graders at the Eastman Theatre. Students are bused in from all over the Greater Rochester Area to enjoy a one-hour, age-appropriate concert designed to connect orchestral music to the intermediate curriculum. In this way, children learn about music in a cultural and historical context.
