BEETHOVEN  Leonore Overture No. 3
MOZART  Piano Concerto No. 24
SIBELIUS  Symphony No. 1

How glorious it is to behold pure genius at its prime in Mozart’s late, great Piano Concerto No. 24, written during an astoundingly prolific stretch in which the music poured forth as if fully formed. With Van Cliburn International Piano Competition medalist Joyce Wang offering her “poetic and sensitive” (Washington Post) interpretation of Mozart’s score, audiences can expect to be spellbound. Also under the baton of RPO Conductor Laureate Christopher Seaman is Sibelius’ 1st symphony. Known today as one of the greatest symphonists ever, synonymous with lean, glacial beauty and a groundbreaking style all his own, here, we hear Sibelius on the cusp of a new century, brimming with youthful energy and soaring, expansive soundscapes.

Join conductors and special guests for a free, fun, and lively discussion about the music before each Philharmonics Series concert. Talks start one hour before the concert and end with ample time for you to refresh before the concert begins. Talks are held on the orchestra level of the Eastman Theatre.
