WAGNER  “Prelude and Liebestod” from Tristan and Isolde
BEETHOVEN  Symphony No. 9, "Choral"

Unlike anything heard before, unlike anything created since: experience Beethoven’s monumental final symphony, a masterpiece for the ages which culminates in the exhilarating, transcendent “Ode to Joy.”

See and hear this towering, triumphant celebration performed live – an 80-piece orchestra, four extraordinary soloists, and the 176-member Eastman-Rochester Chorus. The evening begins with lavish and romantic music from Wagner’s great opera--another then-revolutionary, now legendary score--including the famous “Tristan chord” that rocked the musical world. A must-have experience for anyone interested in symphonic music.

Join conductors and special guests for a free, fun, and lively discussion about the music before each Philharmonics Series concert. Talks start one hour before the concert and end with ample time for you to refresh before the concert begins. Talks are held on the orchestra level of the Eastman Theatre.
