VIVALDI  The Four Seasons
MOZART  Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter”

Great in any season, perfect for the holidays: Concertmaster Juliana Athayde performs Vivaldi’s sparkling Four Seasons, virtuoso vignettes that conjure up the birds of spring, summer storms, an autumn country dance, and winter’s icy chill. One of the most beloved and accessible of all violin concerti, The Four Seasons has been putting a spring into the steps of its listeners for nearly 300 years. Also featured is music from Corelli’s “Christmas” Concerto and Handel’s Messiah. This program of musical delights culminates in Mozart’s ingenious final symphony, the “Jupiter” -- considered one of the greatest of all achievements in symphonic composition. Don’t miss this program of accessible and celebratory classics.

Join guest conductor Michael Christie and violinist Juliana Athayde for free, fun, and lively discussion about the concert, hosted by WXXI's Julia Figueras. The talk will begin one hour before the concert and end with ample time for you to refresh before the concert begins. Talks are held on the orchestra level of the Eastman Theatre.
