RAVEL La Valse
Beautifully poised, deliciously poignant, Tchaikovsky’s ballet music never fails to touch the heart. St. Louis Symphony Concertmaster David Halen shines as soloist in a suite of beloved selections from Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, both unquestioned "Top 40" classical greatest hits. The evening begins with a special performance from RCB. To round things out, “not your average waltz”: Ravel’s fiery showstopper is a hair-raising whirlwind that evokes old-world elegance teetering on the brink of depravity.
Please note that this is not a dance performance of Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty. Rochester City Ballet will be featured on Dvorak's Slavonic Dances.
Join conductors and special guests for a free, fun, and lively discussion about the music before each Philharmonics Series concert. Talks start one hour before the concert and end with ample time for you to refresh before the concert begins. Talks are held on the orchestra level of the Eastman Theatre.
