JENNIFER HIGDON  Harp Concerto (RPO Co-Commission)
BRAHMS  Symphony No. 2

Melodies flow like a sunlit river in Brahms’ glorious Second Symphony, a masterpiece of sublime beauty that weaves shimmering threads into one radiant tapestry. It’s crowned by one of Brahms’ most ecstatically triumphant finales, an unbridled outburst of pure joy. The evening starts with well-known and evocative music from Britten’s landmark opera and a momentous world-premiere from one of the greatest musical voices of our time, Jennifer Higdon.

Join conductors and special guests for a free, fun, and lively discussion about the music before each Philharmonics Series concert. Talks start one hour before the concert and end with ample time for you to refresh before the concert begins. Talks are held on the orchestra level of the Eastman Theatre.

The Jennifer Higdon Harp Concerto co-commission and world premiere performance are sponsored by Deborah Ronnen and Sherman Levey.

Yolanda Kondonassis’ performance supported by The Bunnie and Jerome Sachs Family Foundation
