Conductor Laureate Christopher Seaman brings Elgar’s “friends” to Kodak Hall with the Enigma Variations. The composer dedicated the fourteen variations on an original theme to his “friends pictured within” and named each theme accordingly. Violinist Angelo Xiang Zu makes his RPO debut with Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4. The final, difficult and brilliant movement of this concerto is technically demanding and the most scintillating of the five Mozart violin concerti. The program also includes Delius’ The Walk to the Paradise Garden and Kodály’s Variations on a Hungarian Folksong.
