BRAHMS  Tragic Overture
DVORAK Piano Concerto in G Minor, Op. 33
STRAUSS Also Sprach Zarathustra

Richard Strauss’ powerful and triumphant Also sprach Zarathustra, inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s book of the same name, was notably featured in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Dvorák’s symphonic Piano Concerto is a lyrical contrast with the traditional concerto. Performed by piano virtuoso Stephen Hough, the concerto does not create the traditional battle between the piano and the orchestra. Instead, the piano is an important part of the orchestral texture. Hough’s interpretation promises a clear, kind, romantic, and not to be missed performance!
