Thomas Wilkins
Thomas Wilkins began his tenure as Music Director of the Omaha Symphony in the 2006-07 Season, the same year he began his seventh season as Resident Conductor of the Detroit Symphony. Committed to promoting a life-long enthusiasm for music, Thomas Wilkins brings energy and a commitment to audiences of all ages. Past positions have included Resident Conductor of the Florida Orchestra (Tampa Bay), and Associate Conductor of the Richmond (VA) Symphony. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Shenandoah Conservatory and in 1982 was awarded a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music.
