First music-related memory: Performing ever since I started playing the violin at the age of six.
I decided to be a professional musician when ... I come from a family of musicians (my mother is a pianist and my father's a composer). I pretty much always knew that music was going to be my career.
Favorite travel destination: Bulgaria, where I'm from, and where my family still lives.

Do you have a pet? Yes, three very small water turtles
The RPO is essential to Rochester because ... it's a great orchestra. Any city would be lucky to have us there!
My favorite part of working in the RPO is ... Getting to perform with many great conductors and soloists.
If someone were visiting Rochester, what would you tell them to go see or do? 1. Come hear us perform. 2. Drive 45 minutes and see Niagara Falls!

With the RPO since 2001, violinist Liana Koteva performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S. and Europe. She has been a featured soloist with many orchestras, including the Harid Philharmonia, Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Boca Symphonic Pops Orchestra and ISOMATA Chamber Orchestra. She received the “Most Promising Young Artist Award” after solo performances with the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra at the prestigious Apolonia Music Festival in Bulgaria.
