Genesee Country Village & Museum, Mumford
Jeff Tyzik, conductor
Juliana Athayde, violin (The Caroline W. Gannett & Clayla Ward Chair)
Recognizing the service and sacrifice of generations of Armed Forces veterans, this concert features music from the RPO's new CD Honor, Portraits of America.
The program includes three works by Jeff Tyzik: Bravo! Colorado, dedicated to the memory of President Gerald Ford (a World War II Navy veteran); Fantasy on American Themes; and Pleasant Valley Suite, commissioned in 2003 by the Genesee Country Village & Museum to commemorate its 25th Anniversary.
Other patriotic favorites include Sousa’s uplifting Stars and Stripes Forever, National Emblem March and Tyzik’s own arrangement of the Armed Forces Song Medley. RPO Concertmaster Juliana Athayde will perform Mark O'Connor's String and Threads Suite.
The CD – only publicly released on May 22 – will be available for purchase at the concert. $2 of the $20 price from each CD will be donated to the local Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester. Jeff Tyzik will be on-hand to sign CDs immediately following the concert.
Please note: This concert is free, with museum admission. For more information about the Genesee Country Village and Museum, visit their web site.
