Jennifer Carsillo, narrator

The treasured children's book character Babar the Elephant comes to life on the Hochstein stage when the RPO performs Francis Poulenc's playful music with Jennifer Carsillo as narrator. Reminiscent of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, various instruments are used to illustrate Babar and the other characters in the story.

You'll also hear music by French composers Bizet, Debussy, and Lalo—the latter featuring an immensely talented 12-year-old violinist from Webster, a student of our own RPO violinist Boris Zapesochny.

Pre-concert activities start at 1:00 pm and include Hochstein teachers leading a Suzuki strings "petting zoo" and creative movement/dance. Following the concert, there will be a visit by the Seneca Park Zoomobile.
