John Lill

Lill_John_2.jpgUnanimously described as Britain’s most well known pianist, John Lill first came to international attention when he won the coveted Tchaikovsky award in Moscow in 1970, although his rare talent emerged at an early age – at 18 he performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 under Sir Adrian Boult.  Known for his elegant interpretations of Beethoven and the great masters of the nineteenth and twentieth century piano repertoire, John Lill performs all over the world and was awarded a CBE in the 2005 New Year’s Honours List.  Mr. Lill made his RPO debut in 2007 performing Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1. Lill has released numerous recordings; the most recent have been an album of piano works by Schumann and two new compilations of Schumann, Brahms, and Haydn Piano Sonatas.
