Corn Hill Landing (Exchange St. at Plymouth Ave. South) free
Jeff Tyzik, conductor
Mambo Kings, Latin band
As part of Mayor Duffy's "River City Rhythms" music series sponsored by the City of Rochester, the RPO's latest barge concert takes place at Corn Hill Landing on the west side of the Genesee River. Enjoy pops favorites, patriotic numbers from the RPO's Honor CD, and Latin music, all performed by the floating RPO. Jeff Tyzik arrives in style aboard the Mary Jemison to conduct yet another successful barge concert!
Rochester's own Mambo Kings are featured in a number of selections, including music by Dave Brubeck and Tito Puente, and the Latin-inspired arrangement of the Beatles hit Day Tripper by Mambo Kings' Richard DeLaney. Savor music by Jeff Tyzik - including Fantasy on American Themes, Armed Forces Song Medley, and his arrangement of songs from the '60s and '70s - as well as John Williams' Star Wars Suite for Orchestra. The concert will culminate in a fantastic fireworks display, timed to coordinate with the last chorus of the final piece, John Phillip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever.
The concert is preceded by soprano Cecile Saine performing Broadway tunes at 5:30 p.m., followed by the nine-member Fiddlers of the Genesee at 6:30 p.m.
Bring lawn chairs, blankets and your picnic basket; the concert is audible from both sides of the river. On-street parking is available along Exchange Boulevard, in the Exchange Boulevard parking lots, and in the Court Street Garage as well as other downtown garages. Sponsored by the City of Rochester.

Fireworks display sponsored by First Niagara Bank.
