Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice
Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 7:30 PM
Eastman Theatre
Don't miss your chance to join Rochester's journey to Broadway with this one-night-only concert performance of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, The New Musical!
The staged reading features a 17-member, on-stage orchestra made up of musicians from our own Rochester Philharmonic, as well as a 22-member cast from New York.
Bringing Jane Austen herself to life will be Rochester native, Broadway star, and OBIE Award-winner Donna Lynne Champlin (Sweeney Todd, Hollywood Arms, By Jeeves). The cast also features Colin Donnell (Jersey Boys, Follies) as Mr. Darcy and Juliana Hansen (GREASE: You're the One that I Want!) as Jane Bennet.
Rochester's own Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs co-wrote the Broadway-bound musical, which received its World Premiere at Ohio Light Opera in 2006. Rochester producer Lori Bajorek has assembled a "dream team" of Broadway veterans on her production team. Both the October event and the targeted Broadway opening in November of 2009 will be directed by Tony Award-nominee Mark Lamos.
Tickets are $35, $45 and $75 (includes a post-performance reception with the cast at Max of Eastman Place).
