Christina Pier

Pier_Christina.jpgWhether on the opera stage, concert platform, or recital hall, soprano Christina Pier is consistently met with great critical and audience acclaim. Pier has performed leading roles with numerous opera companies, including the Santa Fe Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Minnesota Opera, and Nashville Opera. Recent performances with symphony orchestras include the North Carolina Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, and Indianapolis Symphony, as well as a performance with the RPO in the 2010-11 Season.

Other highlights include performances with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra singing Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang and selections of Beethoven’s Leonore conducted by Nic McGegan, and previously, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with conductor Roberto Abbado. In 2009, she recorded Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem with David Hill and the BBC Singers on the Naxos label.

Pier is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including a 2003 Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, George London Award, Sullivan Award, two Charles A. Lynam awards, and two Palm Beach Opera Competition Awards. Pier currently resides in Charlotte, NC, where she is a member of the voice faculty at UNCC and Catawba College.
