His reading of Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony last summer captivated audiences. Now, Arild Remmereit leads Beethoven’s graceful Second Symphony. These concerts also afford the opportunity to discover the Piano Concerto of the 17-year-old Clara Wieck, composed shortly after she fell in love with Robert Schumann. Plus, the dramatic Overture to Macbeth, written in the midst of the Civil War by one of America’s earliest composers, William Henry Fry.
