Michael Daugherty: Rosa Parks Boulevard from Motor City Triptych
Barber: Violin Concerto
Copland: Symphony No. 3
Elmar Oliveira is a true virtuoso – there’s nothing he can’t play on the violin. He performs his signature piece – Barber’s Violin Concerto, which is lyrical, intimate and immensely popular. Copland’s Symphony No. 3 is often called “America’s Symphony” – it captures the rich essence of our country and is based on the familiar and dramatic Fanfare for the Common Man. Rosa Parks Boulevard honors the civil rights icon.
