Geoffrey Sanford

Joined the RPO in 2013

Geoff Sanford has been a member of the oboe section of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since September 2013. Most recently in September 2014, Sanford became the Adjunct Lecturer in Oboe at Nazareth College, where his duties include teaching private lessons, studio classes, and performing in a faculty woodwind quintet.  Prior to his work in Rochester, Sanford earned a Master of Music degree from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music as a student of Robert Atherholt, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music as a student of Richard Killmer. Sanford has served as a substitute with the New World Symphony, the Erie Philharmonic, the Canton Symphony, and the Wheeling Symphony. Sanford attended the Tanglewood Music Center in 2013 and again in 2014, and he has also attended the Music Academy of the West, the Sarasota Music Festival, and the Festival-Institute at Round Top, Texas. Sanford grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and his early teachers included Danna Sundet, John Mack, and Elizabeth Camus.
