What kinds of music do you enjoy listening to? Classical, jazz, and some pop
And if you had to pick just one, what’s your favorite piece? I would not be a professional musician if I only had one favorite piece of music
What do you most enjoy about living in the Rochester area? Rochester is a great place to raise a family
The RPO is essential to the Rochester community because … The RPO is important to Rochester in many ways. We educate, we entertain, and we bring live classical music on a high professional level to this community. It enriches this city we live in.
What is your favorite way to spend your day off? I like to spend my days off enjoying time with my family.
What is your most memorable musical experience? One of my most memorable musical experiences is performing the Verdi Requiem in an outdoor theater in Spoleto Italy. It was our final concert of the festival. The crowd was huge and the energy was electric. What an amazing way to end our time there.
Biography
Heidi Brodwin was raised in Ballston Spa, NY. She began playing the violin at the age of five. At age 14, she was a semi-finalist in the Seventeen Magazine competition. After completing her schooling at Indiana University, she moved to Miami Beach to become a member of the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. She then became a member of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, in Charleston, SC, often performing as assistant concertmaster. In 2002, Heidi moved to Rochester and is now a member of the RPO. She enjoys spending her summers at Chautauqua Institution where she performs with the Chautauqua Symphony.
