Voices of Thunder

The Voices of Thunder is a City-wide male chorus from Rochester, New York. There are approximately 60 members of the group representing 15 local predominantly African-American church congregations. Formed in 2001 with a vision led by Rev. Errol Hunt and Bro. Wardell Lewis, the group is lead by a board of directors and local church musicians who share their musical talent. All members of the group volunteer their services as a “labor of love.”

Under the direction of three highly respected music directors – Bro. Julius Dicks, Bro. Thomas Green, and Bro. Wardell Lewis – the group has provided annual concerts at six difference congregations in the past eight years. The Voices of Thunder has joined with AKOMA for a Black History Month Concert in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Voices of Thunder also raises funds to support an annual college scholarship and needs-based financial assistance program which benefits young men in our community. During the inaugural scholarship year in 2007, eleven $500 scholarships were awarded to college-bound students to assist them in furthering their education.
