Buying the Best Online

Amazon.com
Amazon offers not only new but used CDs often at greatly reduced prices. Used CDs also come with a description of the condition of both the disc and the liner notes. NB: Double-check to make sure that you’re ordering from amazon.com (in the USA), not from amazon.co.uk (in Great Britain).

ArkivMusic.com
ArkivMusic offers not only new and current CDs, but it also resurrects some CDs that are currently out of print by reprinting both the CD and the liner notes themselves (they do not resurrect LP recordings that the parent company has never transferred to CD). Thus, some recordings are available only at ArkivMusic (not to be confused with Deutsche Grammophon’s Archiv label, which is dedicated to early music and period-instrument performances, i.e., works performed on instruments that existed when the music was composed).

hbdirect.com
This company specializes mostly in classical and jazz and has a very deep inventory. They may stock some hard-to-find items (e.g., performances once available on single CDs but now found only in boxed collections) that can’t be found via your home computer but are on the company’s computer. Their phone is 800-222-6872. They offer a small discount on most items.

And Lord knows what you might dig up on ebay.com.
