Edmundo Ramirez

Ramirez_Edmundo-smiling2.jpgViolist Edmundo Ramirez has performed as recitalist, chamber player, and soloist, collaborating with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Kristjan Jarvi, and Kent Nagano. Ramirez has appeared with orchestras around the world, including the Adelaide Symphony (Australia) and the National Symphony of Bolivia. In the United States, he has made solo appearances at the Bach Festival (Philadelphia) and Alice Tully Hall and, by invitation of Pierre Boulez, played the viola part of Le Marteau sans Maître at a special performance at Carnegie Hall.
   
In addition to his performing career, Ramirez is founder, conductor, and concertmaster of Ensamble America of New York City, a string orchestra which promotes both Latin American and classical repertoire. He is also the founder, concertmaster, and conductor of the Baroque chamber orchestra Veracruz Chauderelle. In demand as a teacher, Ramirez has given master classes in Asia, Europe, the U.S., and Latin America. Ramirez lives in New York City, Xalapa (Mexico), and Costa Rica.
