Mary Elizabeth Williams

A beautifully expressive Lirico Spinto soprano, Mary Elizabeth Williams made her operatic debut in a lead role in the U.S. with the Atlanta Opera and performed the role of Serena in Porgy and Bess there last season. Ms. Williams graduated from Luther College in Iowa in 1997 and her first operatic role was the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. In 1998, she toured with the National Touring Company of Kern’s Showboat. In 2001 she was a National Semi-Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and was subsequently invited to the Met to study and has received numerous grants to audition for various opera companies. In 2002 Ms. Williams was a member of the prestigious Centre de Formation Lyrique at the Opera National de Paris.
