Search for a Star Soloists

Tara Brooks, marimba
Tara is a senior at Fairport High School. She has studied percussion for six years, currently with Kristen Shiner-McGuire, and piano for ten years. She is a High Honor Roll student, plays varsity volleyball and is active in her church youth group. Tara plans to major in music at college.
Zachary Brown, drums
Zachary Brown, 18, self-taught percussionist until grade three, began formal study of music with high school percussionists and private study with Jeff Welch, Steve Curry and Dave Mancini. Zack excels as percussionist, composer and singer/songwriter. Valedictorian upon graduation, Zack plans to attend the University of Rochester majoring in Biological Sciences while continuing to study music.  
Gabe Condon, guitar
Gabe Condon began playing guitar at four and violin at seven. Now 15, he studies with Bob Sneider and performs with the Penfield High School Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, the jazz duo “Two ‘N Fro” with Rod Blumenau and the rock group “Mint Jam.” Gabe has appeared onstage with Phil Keaggy, Stefon Harris and Russell Malone. 
Glenna Curren, cello
Glenna Curren is a senior at Penfield High School. She is a student of Kathleen Murphy Kemp at Hochstein School of Music and Dance, where she participates in the Honors Chamber Music Program and the Honors Certificate Program. Winner of numerous competitions, Glenna is also the principal cellist of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
Tobias Greenhalgh, baritone
Tobias Greenhalgh is a senior at Greece Athena High School who studies voice with Judith Ranaletta and Thomas Paul, participates in Select Chorus and Show Choir, and played varsity soccer. He has performed in school musicals and the RPO Festival High School Chorale and plans to major in vocal performance in college.
Andrew Hawk, piano
Andrew Hawk, a 16-year-old honor’s student at Livonia Central School, began Suzuki piano lessons at age four with Karen Fontaine. Since 2004, he has studied with Elier Suarez. In addition, Andrew plays the French horn in his school’s wind ensemble and with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
Anna Lenti, soprano
Anna Lenti, a senior at the Aquinas Institute, studies at the Eastman Community Music School where her voice teacher is Cecile Saine. She has been very involved with music and theater at Aquinas. Anna has been named to her school’s academic honors society each semester since her freshman year. In 2005, she won the Rochester Philharmonic League Ranlet Award.
Jenna M. Owens, soprano
A Greece Athena High School senior and vocal student of Judith Ranaletta, Jenna Owens is music captain of Greece Athena Show Choir. She has received vocal awards including Nazareth College and Greece Performing Arts Society. Recent credits include Phantom, The Sound of Music and Aida. Her college plans include majors in vocal performance/music education.
Aaron Sperber, tenor
A senior at Pittsford Sutherland, Aaron Sperber has studied cello since age five. His love for singing led to a first prize in the 2003 Lilac Festival’s “Search for the Stars,” leads in his school musicals and participation in every school group available (director, Harold McAulliffe). He studies voice with Professor Robert Swenson at Eastman School of Music.
Karl Stabnau, baritone saxophone
For four years, Karl Stabnau has performed with the national award-winning Eastman Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by Dr. Howard Potter. Presently, he studies jazz saxophone with Mr. Jose Encarnacion and classical saxophone with Mr. Chien-Kwan Lin. Karl is a senior at Brighton High School and plans to study jazz performance and physics in college.
