Rafting Adventure on Colorado River

Saturday was our first and only day off, after three concerts with rehearsals in three days. It was a beautiful day and many of us chose to take hikes of varying lengths. For those of us who are not mountain goats by nature, the occasion was marked by extreme lack of oxygen, shaky legs and absolute joy of reaching our destination. The wildflowers are incredible this time of year and the vista is always awesome. Our reward was a nice soak in the hot tub!

A group of us were enticed by Rebecca Gilbert to try a new adventure Saturday night. We went on a nighttime raft trip on the Colorado River. We actually titled it "A Night on the River with Robert." Poor Robert DiLutis was the lone male with eight (lovely, I might add) women!! -- not including our guide, Chris. The ladies included Rebecca, Olita Povero, Gaelen McCormick, Angel Ou Yang, Monica Fosnaugh, Erin Hunt, Megan Kemp and myself.

We left Wolcott at dusk from from a real hippy colony! It was not exactly Club Med! With the aid of night vision glasses and our very capable guide (who, by the way, lives in a van down by the river - for all of you SNL fans), we gently made our way down the river by the light of the moon and stars. Gently??!!! Well, in reality, when we hit those no-see-um level 2 rapids, several of us ended up with soggy bottoms! Nevertheless, the evening was a wonderful blend of uncontrollable laughter and truly reverent quiet moments as we took in the beauty of the Colorado sky at night. On to our final three concerts ...
