Orchestra Shines in Front of International Audience

Saturday, July 1, 2006 15:57

The Bravo festival here has got off to a tremendous start with our first three concerts. Opening night was a big hit, with the audience going wild at the end, and more appreciative comments than I can remember. Jeff's concert with the Mambo Kings was also really great, and then last night we did possibly the best Brahms symphony I can remember us playing, which is saying something! Today I rehearsed the Chorus from Albuquerque for Mozart's Requiem, which is creating a big buzz here.

It has been pretty warm, but manageable, and I have particularly enjoyed my early morning walks through the Nature Center, watching the sun rise over the mountain (at 6:30 a.m.!). The orchestra has been in excellent spirits, and glad to have the chance to shine in front of an international audience -- many folks here travel a lot and visit music festivals all over the world.
